Springs Newsletter Article 2017 (14)
The Lord is gracious and compassionate. The fact that you are still alive is a solid proof that God has not given up on you. Your challenges may be many but God is ever faithful to see you through. As you continuously honour Him in all your ways, He will direct your paths into supernatural victory (Proverbs 3:5-10).
Many people confuse mercy with grace. They think that grace is a licence for disobedience, idolatry and immorality. No! It is because of the Lord’s mercies that you are not consumed! God’s mercy is a product of God’s love. It is God’s mercy that helps you out even when you’ve messed things up. It is God’s mercy that brings you to repentance and forgiveness. It is God’s mercy that helps you make a fresh start (Lamentations 3:22-26).
However, grace is much more than mercy! Hebrews 4:16 shows us that mercy is the entry point into grace. However, the fullness of grace is divine empowerment to do God’s will and thereby live victoriously. Mercy picks you up when you fall but Grace keeps you from falling.
You gain access into grace through faith and faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Romans 5:2, 10:17). However, faith without corresponding actions of obedience is dead and useless (James 2:17, 26). If you want to grow in grace, you necessarily have to stay in the place of consistent communion with God and genuine fellowship with true believers (Psalm 16:11, Hebrews 10:25).
It is never God’s will for you to remain spiritually weak. God wants you to be strong, stable, productive and fruitful. However, it is not all up to God! You have to take spiritual responsibility for your life. The choices you make matter! How your spend your time and money matters! God will not overrule your free will. However, whenever you are willing to do the right thing, He gives you the grace (empowerment) you need. Are you investing your life into the things of God? If you will ever grow up spiritually, you need to grow in grace (2 Peter 3:18).
Do you consider that God is faithful to you? This is true only a secondary basis. 2 Timothy 2:13 (AMPC) shows us that on a primary basis, God is faithful to His Word and His righteous character. If you want God to be ever faithful to you, you certainly have to live by the Word (John 15:7-8). God cannot commit Himself to the success of a rebel. It is your faith and obedience that releases the fullness of grace into your life.
