What is Hope?
- The optimistic expectation of a future outcome
- The joyful expectation of a promised future
What is the difference between Faith and Hope?
- Faith is the substance of Hope!
- Hebrews 11:1
- Faith is the content; Hope is the container
- You can’t keep Faith if you lose Hope
- Stay positive: a negative attitude destroys Hope.
How can I get or maintain Hope?
- You need exposure to positive Information!
- Fellowship with the Word of God
- Fellowship with the right company (people of ‘faith, hope and love’ in God)
- If you’re losing hope, it’s a sign that you’re not keeping the right company!
- Keep your mind stayed (focused) on (the promises of) God, Isaiah 26:3
- Pray and Sing (psalms, hymns and spiritual songs)
- Think, speak and act positive: a negative attitude destroys Hope
What is the Believer’s Hope?
- The goodness and mercy of God!
- Psalm 23, Hebrews 4:16, Lamentations 3:21-23
- Salvation, Healing and Deliverance
- Comfort and rest in Heaven
- Rapture (translation and resurrection into an imperishable body)
- Eternal rewards for faithfulness in ‘devotion and service’
- Eternal paradise on the ‘new earth and new heavens’
What is the basis of the Believer’s Hope?
- The Love and Faithfulness of God!
- God is faithful to His Word and to His righteous character
- Jeremiah 29:11, 1 Corinthians 10:13, 2 Timothy 2:13
- Life is not balanced but God is faithful!
