What is the difference between a test and a temptation?
- The devil tempts you to sin and destruction
- God tests you to righteousness and promotion
- James 1:2-4, 13-17
Can the same event be both a test and a temptation?
- Yes, God can use the devil to achieve His purposes
- God can use the temptations of Satan to test you; but He can also test you independently of Satan
Can I pray not to be tested?
- No, the tests of God are for your good!
- 1 Corinthians 10:12-13
- They help you grow unto maturity
- They are His means of validating, confirming and promoting you
Can I pray not to be tempted?
- Yes! The prayer (lead us not into temptation) is to help you not to enter into unnecessary temptation and/or not to fail when necessarily tested
- Unnecessary temptations can be avoided!

- Necessary temptation can be overcome!

- You can watch and pray not to enter into unnecessary temptation
- You can watch and pray not to fail when necessarily tested
Why do I need to pray for deliverance from evil?
- The world is full of evil as empowered by Sin and Satan!
- Satan is working hard (without sleep or slumber) to thwart the purposes of God in your life and ministry
- 1 Peter 5:8-9
- The evil in the world can negatively impact your life and ministry
- You need God’s help to overcome evil – you cannot do it alone just by your own human efforts
- You need to ask for and depend on God’s help!
How does God help me to overcome evil?

- 1. Insight and revelation
- 2. Divine intervention
- -> Showing you the real problem
- -> Teaching you what to do
- -> Protecting you
- -> Fighting for you
- -> Suppressing your enemies
How do I pray for deliverance from evil?
- James 4:6-10, 1 Peter 5:8-9
- Repent from sin (Repentance)
- Submit to God (Consecration)
- Ask for God’s help (Supplication)
- Exercise authority over the devil (Commanding)
