John 15:1-4
John 15:5-8
John 15:9-10
How can my lifetime on earth have eternal value?
- By building on the true foundation: the Lord Jesus Christ, 1 Corinthians 3:11
- Jesus Christ is the True Vine and God (the Father) is the Vinedresser, John 15:1
- Every other religion, belief system or ideology is a false vine (false foundation)!
- Jesus is the firm foundation of eternal life, John 1:4-5
- Jesus Christ is the solid rock, all other ground is sinking sand!
How can I be fruitful for Christ?
- By actively abiding in (staying actively connected to) Him, John 15:4-5
- The branch is totally dependent on the vine to produce fruit
- It is the sap in the vine (stem) that nourishes the branch and causes it to flourish
- The ‘quality and quantity’ of fruit produced is dependent on how well the branch is ‘connected and cooperating’ with the vine
- A disconnected branch will not produce fruit!
- A hardened (unyielding, uncooperative) branch will not produce much fruit
What type of fruit am I expected to produce?
- The fruit of the true vine!
- If Jesus Christ is the True Vine, then His branches are expected to produce the fruits of Christ
What are the fruits of Christ – the fruits produced by Christ in us?
- The fruit of righteousness!, 1 John 3:7-8
- Love, Galatians 5:22-23
- Grace and Truth, John 1:17
- Sanctification and holiness, Hebrews 12:9-11
- Humility and obedience, Philippians 2:5-7
- Light in the darkness, John 1:4-5
- Salvation of sinners, Proverbs 11:30
- Healing of the sick
- Mending of broken lives
- Deliverance of the captives
- Mentoring (discipleship) of believers
- Restoration of backsliders
- Working of miracles
What is the ultimate life goal of any true believer?
- To be like Jesus!, Romans 8:29
- If Jesus Christ does not represent your ultimate image of success in life, it indicates a spiritual problem which needs to be fixed
- In all we do, in every aspect of life, we are to represent Him and be His agents of righteousness (salvation, healing, deliverance, discipleship and transformation)
