What is consecration?

  • Consecration is total dedication to God (embracing the complete Lordship of Jesus Christ over every aspect of your life)
  • Consecration is setting yourself apart from the corrupting influence of the world (the world is the wife of Satan, controlled by Jezebel – the spirit of idolatry and immorality)
  • Consecration is giving full attention to God (in faith, humility and obedience)
  • Consecration is giving yourself completely over to God (in commitment, devotion and service)
  • Consecration includes regular attendance and engagement at church meetings
  • Consecration includes regular tithing and serving at church
  • Consecration is separation from worldliness (idolatry and immorality) and carnality (uncontrolled indulgence of the flesh)
  • Consecration implies spirituality (are you aiming to be spiritual or are you content with being a carnally-minded believer?)
  • Consecration is refusing to be dominated by materialism (money is a good servant but a bad master)
  • Consecration implies abstinence (from hard stuff) and moderation (in soft stuff)
  • Consecration includes moderation in the use of jewellery and bodily adornment (use these things lightly – avoid worldly excesses)
  • Consecration includes modest dressing (decent, moderate and considerate)

In order to abide under the shadow of the Almighty (i.e. victorious living), you have to dwell in the secret place the Most High (i.e. consecration)!

What is the link between consecration and breakthrough?

  • God needs your consecration and you need His blessings!
  • Your consecration pleases God and brings down His favour upon you
  • If your prayers are not being answered, you need to increase your consecration
  • If the devil is oppressing you in any aspect, you need to increase your consecration
  • If your spiritual life is going down, you need to increase your consecration
  • A lack of consecration reflects a poor attitude towards God and disrespect for His Word
  • The time you need a breakthrough is not the time to be increasing your indulgence in worldly and carnal excesses
  • Whatever worldliness or carnality you allow to dominate you can be a gateway or inroad for the devil to operate in your life
