Matthew 17:14-21, 2 Chronicles 7:13-14
What does Jesus mean by telling us to abide in Him according to John 15?
- To abide is to actively engage!
- To abide is to remain steadfast and endure faithful
- If you are born-again, you are a branch in Christ
- Jesus is your vine and God the Father is your gardener, John 15:1
- Gardening is the business of cutting!
- The overarching goal of the Father is that you should bear fruits of righteousness
- Believers who do not abide in Christ will not bear fruit
- Believers who do not bear fruit will be cut-off by the Father (and ultimately dumped into the bin of Hell) because they have proved themselves useless to the Kingdom of God, John 15:2,6
- Believers who bear fruit will be pruned (purified) by the Father so that they can bear more fruit, John 15:2,8
Why are believers not attending church prayer meetings?
- They are either too busy or too lazy!
- They don’t know the value/importance of prayer
- They prefer relaxation and entertainment
- They don’t care enough about the salvation of souls
- They are dominated by pride and selfishness
- They don’t care enough about the advancement of righteousness
- They are dominated by the cares of this life
- They are not kingdom-minded!
- They believe that others should do it for them
Why do I need to engage regularly in prayer and fasting?
- Your intimacy with God is limited without prayer and fasting
- Your faith in God is limited without prayer and fasting
- Your ability to advance the Kingdom is limited without prayer and fasting
- Your ability to do the will of God is limited without prayer and fasting
