Galatians 5:16-24, Matthew 7:27-30
What is the consequence of the works of the flesh in my life as a believer in Christ?
- Anyone living that sort of life (i.e. a habitual lifestyle of sin) will not inherit the kingdom of God, Galatians 5:21, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
- The wages of sin is spiritual death (anyone dominated by sin is spiritually sick), Romans 6:23
What is sexual immorality?
- Having sex with someone who is not your married spouse!
- Mental immorality is the personal assistant of physical immorality
- Mental immorality (pornography and lustful fantasising) is a SIN that defiles your soul and prepares you for physical immorality
- Matthew 5:27-30
What is wrong with sexual immorality?
- It is a violation of your physical, emotional and spiritual integrity!
- 1 Corinthians 6:18-20
- It is intimacy without commitment which bonds you to another and opens you up to their physical, emotional and spiritual baggage
- It is a sin of stealing (taking for yourself what is not morally and legally yours to have)
- It opens you the door for the thief (Satan) to operate in your life by stealing, killing and destroying, John 10:10
How can I prevent sexual immorality?
- Be on guard and protect yourself, 1 Peter 5:8-9
- You are living in a wicked world – protect your precious goods from that charming devil (wolves in sheep’s clothing)
- Anything left unprotected will ultimately be stolen!
- Abstain and Refrain – keep yourself pure, 1 Timothy 5:22
- Limit the sources of temptation and distraction in your life
- Mind/control your dressing – don’t wear clothes and adornment that are seductive – don’t advertise your body – don’t invite unnecessary lustful attention to your body – don’t dress foolishly!
- Abstain from flirting. Flirting is playing in sin zone.
- Don’t aspire to look hot and sexy in public: it is flirting!

- Refrain from sexually corrupted TV, movies and internet videos!
- 1 Corinthians 5:6, Matthew 5:27-30
- Abstain from pornography (in picture, video or romantic books)
- Control (filter/restrict) your internet, gaming and social media access
- Abstain from bad company (friendships, relationships, social groups) – cut them off and block them out, 1 Corinthians 15:33
- Stay in active fellowship with true believers
