Ephesians 5:25-27, Matthew 24:36-44
Who is a bride?
- A bride is woman who is getting married
- A bride is chosen out of many, Matthew 22:14
What are the characteristics of a ready bride of Christ, according to Ephesians 5:26-27?
- Sanctified and cleansed
- Holy – pure, clean, godly, devoted, separated from sin, worldliness, materialism and idolatry, faithful and fruitful (abiding and obeying)
- Ready and useful, 2 Timothy 2:20-22
Why do you need to be always ready for the Master?
- Jesus is coming back to meet you at a time you do not expect – this means that he will catch you doing what you normally do
- Procrastination of obedience will compromise you: there is no room for a fire-fighting or last minute approach
- Only those who are ready will fly. Two believers will be working in the field or in the house (similar circumstances, similar opportunities), one will be taken and the other left behind, Matthew 24:40-42
- It is a most dangerous thing to take God (and your salvation) for granted, Hebrews 12:28-29
